Music Lesson FAQs

Do I pay per lesson or per month?
Payment for the entire month ($180) is due at the beginning of each month. The payment covers: four full lessons and feedback on submitted performance videos! 

How long are lessons?
Lessons are 30 minutes long. Advanced students can pay to book one full hour for an additional cost.

What is the earliest age someone can start taking lessons?
My youngest student's are typically 6 years or older. However, it's never too early to start exposure to music and music lessons! The most important thing is for the student to have an interest and desire to learn.

 

What is the oldest age someone can start taking lessons?

It's never too late to start music lessons! I have students who have begun in their 70's.

Is there a refund for missed or canceled lessons?
If you need to cancel a lesson due to illness or unforeseen circumstances I will provide a rescheduled lesson during a different time/day at no extra cost (one per month). The rescheduled lesson must be made within 30 days of the originally scheduled lesson if possible.

If I am the one who must cancel a lesson I then I will give you the choice of a rescheduled lesson or a refund.

What form of payments do you take?
I accept Venmo, and you also have the option of enrolling in e-billing/auto payment through the student portal.

What curriculum do you use?
I use a variety of teaching methods tailored to each student! I often use Suzuki books, ‘I can read Music’ , ear training and excerpts from other printed sources.

How do I know what size/brand instrument to purchase or rent?
We can discuss options on a phone call before lessons begin or we can chat about options during our first lesson. If you are purchasing a beginner instrument I highly recommend purchasing it from a local company so that you can see the quality before you buy. However, there are plenty of online options that are great, too.

Do I need to purchase extra materials before lessons begin?
I have a small list of inexpensive supplies that I usually request each of my students to have when starting lessons. (for example: notebook to journal progress, tuner or tuner app, appropriate music book etc...). You can order these through an Amazon link I’ve created, or you can purchase them from wherever you’re most comfortable.
